He was born in 378 AD in Germany and became as a lawyer governor in the Roman provinces in Gallia ( France ). He was turned into a Christian by the local bishop, and he and his wife joint a monastery. Later he was nominated bishop in Auxerre ( in nowadays Burgundy ). He died 66 years old on this day in 448 AD. He was later declared a saint with the name Saint Germanus of Auxerre. In Belgium the day’s name is SAINT IGNACE DE LOYALA – after a Spanish-Basque catholic priest, who lived in the years 1491-1556.
